Summary

The March 7 inspections led to instructions to follow regulated prices, alongside reports of stock shortages and warnings against excess storage.

On March 7, 2026, Kampot specialist officials worked with relevant departments under ministry instructions to inspect fuel stations, finding irregularities at some sites, especially sales above interministerial price limits.

Provincial Commerce Department director Srey Kompheak said commerce and mines-and-energy officials inspected 80 sites across the province’s municipalities and districts and found 20 selling above regulated prices. Operators were told to comply. He described the price notices as normally issued every ten days.

He also reported 20 stations suspended because they had no fuel to sell and were awaiting suppliers. Possible reasons included insufficient supply or costs rising beyond what some stations could afford. He said larger stations were complying and helping conserve fuel by declining sales to customers buying containers for stockpiling.

A Commerce Ministry letter dated March 6, 2026 called on operators to follow technical standards to manage general purchasing and sales risks and protect consumers.

The ministry encouraged the public to understand operators’ risk-management and conservation measures, help conserve fuel and avoid buying and storing more fuel than necessary, which could create fire risks and harm property and community life.
