Kampot: Developing human capital is important for competitive and sustainable tourism, Tourism Minister Huot Hak said at the opening of the second Mekong–Lancang training-of-trainers course on service excellence, skills development and tourism innovation. Cambodia hosted the event in Kampot on March 11, 2026.
Huot Hak said the course focused on better tourism services, competency-based training and innovation in tourism products. Trainers and specialists from member countries would exchange knowledge and experience, improve training methods and disseminate them in their own countries.
He stressed that human resources and human capital were central to service quality and destination competitiveness. The course also demonstrated Mekong–Lancang countries’ commitment to stronger tourism cooperation and sustainable development across the region.
Kampot Deputy Governor Khieu Rithiphon welcomed delegates and highlighted the province’s coast, tourism communities, cultural heritage and well-known cuisine, which he said were attracting domestic and international visitors.
He said Kampot was continuing to develop as a promising Cambodian tourism destination. Written by Pai Sokhim
