On March 15, fuel prices in Cambodia continued to rise amid fluctuations in international energy markets and the situation in Iran. Some fishers in Sihanoukville said that “the more trips we make, the more we lose.” With diesel costs rising sharply, many fishing boats had temporarily remained moored, significantly disrupting fishing production.
Under the Commerce Ministry’s price schedule for March 14–16, regular petrol remained at 5,200 riel per litre, while diesel rose by 350 riel to 6,400 riel. Fishers said revenue from their catches was insufficient to cover fuel costs. They warned that seafood prices could rise if fuel remained expensive.
