A lively five-kilometre public fun run took place in Kratie on the morning of March 27, 2026, celebrating the Tenth River Festival, held from March 27 to 29 under the theme “Green River, Rich Cultural and Natural Heritage”.

Tourism Minister Huot Hak and his spouse, together with Kratie Governor Va Thorn, presided over the event. More than 2,500 leaders, civil servants, private-sector representatives, young people and residents participated, bringing a vibrant sporting atmosphere to the riverside.

Huot Hak said sport was a bridge to peace: besides improving health, it connected people and communities and helped tourism grow more broadly and dynamically.

He said tourism had been prioritised in the national economy under the “green gold” concept and the longstanding encouragement that sport thrives in peace. The seventh-term government led by Prime Minister Hun Manet continued to strengthen tourism and sport as important drivers of national economic and social development.

The report presents combining sport and tourism as an important way to promote river tourism and encourage young people’s participation in social activities. The event also showcased Kratie’s natural beauty and cultural heritage to domestic and international visitors.

The report also describes daily sport as important for physical and mental health, lowering disease risks, building confidence, strengthening social ties and nurturing patience, effort and perseverance in pursuing life goals.

The article describes the event as a symbol of peace, solidarity and Cambodia’s growing tourism potential. By: KPS99TV.
