TikTok fortune-teller នី សម្បត្តិ, known as ម៉ែរក្សា, had allegedly threatened critics by suggesting money could bribe police into arresting anyone she wanted targeted. A report citing a warrant obtained by news media on April 6, 2026, said Phnom Penh Municipal Court ordered her remanded to the city’s PJ prison.
According to that warrant, prosecutors charged her with incitement causing serious disorder affecting social security and insulting the National Police over alleged conduct in Cambodia on April 2, 2026, under Criminal Code articles 494, 495 and 502.
On the afternoon of April 3, 2026, she attended Phnom Penh police headquarters to explain remarks claiming she had money and police connections and could arrange the arrest of anyone in a dispute with her.
Phnom Penh Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Chuon Narin said legal action would be taken following this second questioning. She had previously received an educational warning on March 24, 2026.
The report cited some public opinion describing the remarks as insulting police and implying that money prevailed over law. Those commentators viewed action as demonstrating respect for law and equality before it; these were the views quoted in the report.
It added that on March 24, 2026, ម៉ែរក្សា had attended police headquarters and was told to stop social-media livestreams concerning two husbands, which police at the time considered harmful to the dignity of Khmer women.
