The head of CCF’s Battambang branch was directed to work at the central headquarters while disciplinary procedures continued.
The Commerce Ministry’s CCF directorate said it had taken three measures after uncertainty arose over durians sold at ភួ ពុយ market in Battambang province:
1. On May 4, 2026, the directorate instructed its Battambang branch to inspect and interview traders at seven durian-selling locations in ភួ ពុយ market and collect samples for laboratory testing for chemicals that could affect consumer health and safety.
2. On May 5, 2026, the Commerce Ministry spokesperson and CCF director-general conducted an on-site investigation in Battambang and convened a joint meeting. Participants included a deputy provincial governor, heads of the provincial commerce and agriculture departments, the CCF branch head and subordinate officers, and some relevant market traders, to hear explanations and seek an urgent solution.
3. On May 6, 2026, CCF issued work instruction No. 443, dated that day, requiring គឹម ប្រុស to work in the competition-affairs department at CCF’s central headquarters so that the Commerce Ministry Disciplinary Council’s procedures could continue under Cambodia’s Law on the Common Statute of Civil Servants.
