According to reports, a joint enforcement team in Banteay Meanchey province inspected three buildings in Poipet city on May 15, 2026, to check for suspected online scam activity.
Police, gendarmerie and other relevant enforcement agencies took part in the inspections, which covered a row-house villa, a six-storey apartment building and a 13-storey apartment building.
At the first villa, the report said the occupants had left and the joint team found materials suspected of being connected to online scams. Officers then took the Cambodian female owner to Poipet City Police for further questioning and temporarily closed the premises.
The six-storey apartment building housed 76 foreign residents, including 28 women. The report said no suspected scam equipment was found during the inspection.
The joint team explained the law to the apartment management and required the person in charge to sign an undertaking.
At the third location, a 13-storey apartment building, the team also carried out an inspection and legal awareness activities.
