As agriculture modernizes, Cambodia’s agricultural investment structure is changing, according to public information cited in the report. Since early 2026, investors’ attention has increasingly shifted from cultivation, raw-material purchasing and primary exports toward processing, warehousing, logistics, cold chains, packaging and export supply chains.
The report identifies cashews, cassava, rice, rubber, fruit and food processing as areas attracting domestic and foreign investors. It says the Council for the Development of Cambodia, CDC, lists agriculture and agro-processing among encouraged investment sectors with incentives, and that agri-food is a priority for growth and exports.
Although industry still dominates investment, the report says agricultural projects are gaining a larger share of priority investment lists. In May, Cambodia approved investment worth about US$570 million, including around US$50 million related to agriculture and agricultural industries. An animal-breeding and husbandry project in Kampong Thom accounted for about US$40 million.
Cashews are presented as a key opportunity for agricultural upgrading. The government is accelerating a cashew industrial park in Kampong Thom to shift from raw-material exports toward local processing. Industry participants say long-term development also requires better raw-material supply, storage and logistics, financing, energy costs and export certification to improve competitiveness and value added.
