Stung Treng province is showing positive signs in natural resource conservation, with young gaur and several rare wildlife species seen living and breeding peacefully in protected areas.
ហ៊ុន សំអឿន, head of a Stung Treng Forestry Administration section, said that during automatic camera checks and joint forest patrols by Forestry Administration officers and Cambodian wildlife protection organization CWC on June 21, 2026, teams recorded several wildlife species accompanying their young.
The animals included gaur, banteng, sambar deer, muntjac, porcupines, peafowl, gibbons, monkeys and other wildlife living in ភ្នំប្រជុំមិត្ត community forest in សំអាង commune, ថាឡាបរិវ៉ាត់ district, and ជាំពេជ្រ community forest in កោះស្នែង commune, បុរីអូរស្វាយសែនជ័យ district.
The findings demonstrate the effectiveness of conservation and natural habitat protection, which have helped rare and endangered wildlife live and breed safely.
Technical officials and partner organizations also called on residents to stop hunting, trapping and poisoning wildlife in all forms, and to help protect these valuable natural resources to ensure long-term conservation and support future ecotourism development. By: Pai Sokhim
