Summary

Phnom Penh police reported five drug cases from July 20 to 27, detaining 19 suspects and seizing nearly 20 kilograms of drugs.

From July 20 to 27, the anti-drug unit of the Phnom Penh Municipal Police carried out a targeted anti-drug operation, solving five drug cases and detaining a total of 19 suspects, including three women and one British national. Nearly 20 kilograms of various drugs were seized, along with homemade knives, swords and other prohibited items.
The operation was ordered by 尊纳林, deputy commissioner-general of the National Police and Phnom Penh police chief, and directed on the ground by 郭毅, the deputy municipal police chief responsible for anti-drug work, in coordination with prosecutors of the Phnom Penh Municipal Court. The account describes the enforcement procedures as orderly and rigorous.
According to the police statement, the seized drugs included a combined seven kilograms of methamphetamine and ketamine, and more than 10 kilograms of cannabis. Investigators suspected that the group processed cannabis, added fruit flavours and disguised it as preserved fruit, jelly and chocolate for distribution. Police also dismantled a site used for drug dealing, drug use and gambling.
According to the account, most of those involved were described as idle youths who, after prolonged drug use, engaged in disturbances, group fights and theft, seriously disrupting local security and causing public concern. Police have completed their investigation and case files, and all suspects and related evidence have been handed to judicial authorities to be dealt with under the law.
