Representing Cambodia on the international stage, H.E. Nam Lynal, Under Secretary of State of the Ministry of Commerce, led a high-level delegation to participate in two concurrent global events: the Global Halal Summit 2026 (GHaS 2026) and the 22nd Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS 2026), which were grandly held at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) in Kuala Lumpur. The official opening ceremony of this grand event was held under the distinguished presidency of YAB Dato' Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid bin Hamidi, Deputy Prime Minister I and Minister of the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development of Malaysia, who represented YAB Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, together with the presence of many international dignitaries and high-level figures. This is according to a local media publication on the morning of September 29, 2026.
Organized by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) and with full support from the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry of Malaysia (MITI), this year's MIHAS 2026 trade exhibition operates under the meaningful theme "Shaping Trust, Driving Resilience." This grand forum has gathered up to 1,700 exhibiting companies, equivalent to 2,000 booths, and expanded to 13 international pavilions, attracting approximately 50,000 visitors, as well as business partners and potential buyers from 58 countries around the world.
Taking advantage of this important economic diplomacy mission, the Under Secretary of State held working discussions with YBhg. Dato' Indera Abu Bakar Yusof, CEO of MATRADE, and various private business representatives to seek strategies for expanding the market for Cambodian products in Malaysia. Furthermore, the delegation conducted on-site inspections of the presence of premium Cambodian rice under the brand "Phka Khnhei" (1 kilogram and 5 kilogram packages), which are actively sold at KK Super Mart in the Menara KK headquarters building in Kuala Lumpur, a giant-scale supermarket chain with more than 1,000 outlets throughout Malaysia.
