The Kampong Thom Provincial Department of Public Works and Transportation issued an urgent notice on September 29, 2026, regarding the temporary suspension of traffic for all types of heavy goods vehicles on several major road sections, after heavy rainfall caused severe flooding, submerging the roads and making them unable to bear the weight of heavy vehicles.
This measure aims to ensure travel safety, prevent hazards, and avert landslides or damage to road and bridge infrastructure.
The three road sections subject to the suspension include:
National Road No. 60B, 5,380 meters long (from km 6+800 to km 46+120), running from Khvek village to Trapeang Ruessei village, Kraya commune, Santuk district.
Provincial Road No. 2718, 29,525 meters long (from km 42+550 to km 101+800), running from Krapeu Ampil (ក្រពើអំបិល) village, Boeng Lvea commune, Santuk district, to Boeng village, Mean Rith commune, Sandan district, with one culvert washout at km 87+100 in Ronteah (រន្ទះ) village, Tumring (ទំរីង) commune, Sandan district.
National Road No. 6, 1,150 meters long, which is currently experiencing flooding on both the shoulders and the roadway, located in Kampong Chen Cheung commune, Stoung district.
Authorities are calling on all transport company owners and heavy-vehicle drivers to please understand, exercise patience, and cooperate by suspending travel or using alternate routes until further notice when floodwaters recede. By: Pai Sokhim
