Trade between the Kingdom of Cambodia and Malaysia has shown strong momentum, reaching a total of US$1.18 billion, up 46.54% in the first nine months of 2026. According to a local news report citing a report by Cambodia's General Department of Customs and Excise, Cambodia's exports to Malaysia were valued at US$163 million (up 57%), while imports from Malaysia totaled US$1.02 billion (up 44.95%). This momentum has helped Malaysia maintain its position as Cambodia's 7th largest trading partner, after China, the United States, Vietnam, Thailand, Japan and Singapore.
This rapid growth is seen as an important driver in deepening bilateral economic ties in key areas such as trade and investment. On this matter, Neak Oknha Kith Meng, Chairman of the Cambodian Chamber of Commerce, emphasized that this notable growth reflects an expansion beyond US$1 billion and the broad opening of doors to business cooperation between the two sides.
Meanwhile, Pen Sovicheat, Secretary of State and spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce, explained that this export growth was driven by the health of Cambodia's economy, even as overall GDP growth remained at more than 4%, while Cambodia continues to maintain major markets such as the United States, China and the RCEP region very well. It is also worth noting that, compared to the full year of 2025, bilateral Cambodia-Malaysia trade previously reached a total of US$1.1 billion (up 24.66%), of which Cambodia exported US$143 million and Malaysia imported US$935 million.
