Tourism is a priority industry in the coastal region. Development directions reflect each province’s strengths: leisure tourism in Preah Sihanouk, eco-tourism in Koh Kong, cultural tourism in Kampot and high-quality tourism in Kep. Different settings across the four provinces Preah Sihanouk offers coastal, island, business and leisure settings; Koh Kong provides forest, river, mangrove and community-based nature experiences; Kampot combines historic urban areas, rivers, mountains and farm visits; Kep focuses on coastal leisure, food, nature guiding and wellness. Regional itineraries can connect them, while operations and transport should be planned for each location. Build a service chain beyond accommodation Business areas include accommodation management, food sourcing, guiding and activities, reservations and sales, transfers, cleaning, maintenance and waste services. Farm visits, local foods and crafts can bring community production into the visitor economy. Water and mountain activities also require staff training, equipment maintenance and emergency arrangements in the operating plan. Assess the relevant market Assess the target visitor segment, seasonality, overnight stays, trip pattern and distribution costs rather than estimating a resort’s revenue from national visitor totals. Preah Sihanouk’s 2026–2030 tourism plan stresses product and service quality, cleanliness, safety and cooperation. These are development priorities, not occupancy or return guarantees.
