On October 16, during his visit to Türkiye, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet attended the Cambodia–Türkiye Business Forum and pushed to deepen cooperation between the two countries in trade, investment and defense.

The business forum attracted 66 companies from both countries. Hun Manet called on both sides to strengthen business matching, expand trade and investment opportunities, and bring more cooperation projects into implementation.

On trade, Cambodia and Türkiye set a target of raising bilateral trade to US$1 billion. Cambodia hopes to further expand exports of garments, footwear and agricultural products, while exploring cooperation opportunities in manufacturing, agricultural processing, energy and logistics.

Beyond trade and investment, there was also news on defense. Cambodia and Türkiye signed a framework military cooperation agreement, further expanding bilateral military ties. However, the specific terms of the agreement and follow-up projects have yet to be announced.

The visit also covered cooperation topics in the defense industry, energy, education and culture, showing that the two countries are trying to expand cooperation from traditional trade into more sectors.

For Cambodia, strengthening ties with Türkiye is expected to create new opportunities for businesses to open markets, attract investment and broaden international cooperation. Whether the two sides can turn their cooperation intentions into actual orders and projects will be a key point to watch.
