Amazon founder Jeff Bezos firmly believes that artificial intelligence (AI) could drive economic productivity so high that a single person could earn enough income to support an entire family while working just 3 days a week.
Bezos predicted that AI could enable many families to live on the income earned by a single person, allowing the other partner to stop working if they wish.
However, the comments from the billionaire stand in stark contrast to concerns that AI could displace millions of jobs, as companies ramp up workforce reductions and turn to machines and artificial intelligence instead.
The prediction also comes as the Amazon company of the billionaire has cut roughly 30,000 employees over the past year. When asked about the contradiction between his statements and the company's actual actions, Bezos cited challenges following the COVID-19 pandemic.
