Cambodia's Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts recently led seven local film production companies to the 2026 Asian Contents and Film Market, held in Busan, South Korea. The event ran alongside the Busan International Film Festival and attracted filmmakers, distributors, investors and industry professionals from around the world.
Through this participation, Cambodia aims to showcase its filming potential to the international market, attract more overseas productions to shoot on location, and help local films find overseas distribution channels and international partners.
The Cambodian side highlighted the country's natural scenery, classical architecture and cultural heritage, and outlined the conveniences and support the government offers in filming permits, taxation and the import of production equipment. It promoted the slogan "Cambodia, Your Next Film Destination" to draw international production teams.
The seven local companies taking part were: BLACKBOX ENTERTAINMENT, KONGCHAK PICTURES, LD PICTURE, MEDIALOAD, PALM FILM PRODUCTION, SASTRA and TINY FILMS. Each company showcased its films and projects at the market and held discussions with international buyers and industry representatives on collaboration opportunities.
On October 10, Ratana Chhorn, Head of the Office of Film Permit and Classification at the Department of Cinema and Cultural Diffusion, delivered a keynote speech introducing Cambodia's filming locations, professional talent, production costs and related policy advantages.
The Cambodian side said that over the four days of the market, the delegation held more than 200 business meetings to secure overseas distribution and cross-border co-production opportunities for local films. Cambodia hopes to use the international film market to drive its domestic film and television industry, help more overseas audiences understand Khmer culture, and create more development opportunities for local film practitioners.
