New progress is being made in the construction of Techo International Airport in Cambodia! As of October 20, approximately 90% of the overall VVIP terminal project has been completed. The terminal is expected to be finished in early November, with construction entering its final closing phase.
The terminal is primarily intended to receive foreign heads of state and government, senior delegations and other distinguished guests, making it an important supporting facility for Techo International Airport.
On-site technicians said the terminal’s main construction is nearing completion, while the construction team is systematically carrying out finishing work, including technical works and interior decoration, in preparation for the project's scheduled completion.
Techo International Airport officially began operations on September 9, 2025, and held its formal inauguration ceremony on October 20 of the same year. It replaced the former Phnom Penh International Airport and became an important international aviation hub serving Cambodia's capital region.
As a 4F-class international airport, Techo International Airport can handle large passenger aircraft such as the Airbus A380 and Boeing 747, with a designed annual passenger capacity of approximately 13 million to 15 million people.
With the VVIP terminal nearing completion, the airport's capacity to receive foreign heads of state and government and high-level international delegations is expected to improve further. It will also provide greater convenience for Cambodia's international engagement and the hosting of major events.
