The fourth Shandong Information Technology Industry Development Conference was recently held in Tai’an. A Cambodian government and business delegation attended and presented a preliminary procurement list covering agricultural machinery, digital infrastructure and supporting equipment for smart manufacturing. More than 60 Tai’an companies took part in discussions.

The conference introduced a thematic meeting entitled“Taishan in Dialogue with the Mekong · Cambodia-linked cooperation for expansion into ASEAN”for the first time, facilitating links between Shandong and Cambodian enterprises. Representatives of Cambodia’s Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, and relevant industry associations and chambers of commerce attended.

The Cambodian side outlined the local market environment, industrial plans and procurement needs. These forms of cooperation could affect daily life: agricultural machinery can improve planting and harvesting efficiency; agricultural processing cooperation may create more opportunities to process and sell local produce; and digital infrastructure development is relevant to network services and online public services.

Tai’an companies came from sectors including agricultural and construction machinery, agricultural processing, fertilizers and pesticides, drones and information technology. Representatives of Cambodia’s Ministry of Commerce expressed hope that Shandong’s technology and experience could help develop the digital economy and upgrade relevant infrastructure. The two sides also discussed cross-border investment, supply chains and industrial cooperation.

The specific procurement amounts, equipment quantities, suppliers and final agreements on the preliminary procurement list have not yet been announced. The event provided a channel for the two sides to connect; whether specific cooperation projects will materialize remains subject to further information.
