Summary

Seven COMAC C909 flight instructors have arrived in Phnom Penh to support Air Cambodia's preparations. Its first two aircraft are expected in November 2026, subject to progress.

Preparations for new aircraft in Cambodia are progressing. Seven COMAC C909 flight instructors recently arrived in Phnom Penh to support Air Cambodia's introduction of the Chinese-made regional passenger jet. Their arrival marks further progress in training and operational preparations.

According to publicly available information, Air Cambodia has started C909 pilot and flight dispatcher training to familiarise flight crews and ground operations staff with the new aircraft before it enters service.

Under previously announced plans, Air Cambodia's first two C909 aircraft are expected to be delivered in November 2026. Additional aircraft are planned to join the fleet in stages, with actual delivery dates subject to progress.

The C909 is a regional passenger aircraft developed by COMAC for short- and medium-haul routes. Air Cambodia plans a layout of 93 seats, including 3 business-class seats and 90 economy-class seats, for services linking Cambodian cities with neighbouring countries and regions.

Introducing the aircraft involves not only fleet expansion but also flight training, operational support and maintenance arrangements. If deliveries and related approvals proceed as planned, the aircraft could provide Air Cambodia with more options for expanding regional routes.

The first aircraft remain at the expected delivery stage. The start of commercial passenger operations and specific route arrangements will depend on subsequent announcements from the airline.
