According to an announcement by the Ministry of National Defence spokesperson, since the ceasefire took effect on December 27, 2025, Thai military forces have continued to lay barbed wire, dig ditches, build bunkers and destroy infrastructure and residents’ property. As a result, 7,873 Cambodians from 1,869 families, including 1,847 children, remain unable to return to their homes.

The Ministry of National Defence spokesperson reiterated Cambodia’s firm commitment to protecting the Cambodia–Thailand international boundary established by the Indochina–Siam Boundary Commission, on the basis of international law, the principle of Uti Possidetis Juris, Franco–Siamese conventions and treaties, maps and boundary demarcation documents, as well as agreements previously reached by both sides. Cambodia does not recognise any changes to the boundary resulting from the use of force and continues to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity in accordance with international law.

Cambodia remains committed to resolving issues peacefully to improve conditions along the border and enable residents in the area to resume normal life as soon as possible. Article by: Sopheak
