At Treal High School in Kampong Thom province, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet presided over the official inauguration of five new school buildings containing 55 classrooms. The buildings were constructed at five different schools under the “All for Education” project of the Cambodia Oknha Association, led by Neak Oknha Ly Yong Phat, to help ease classroom shortages and meet students’ steadily growing educational needs.

During the ceremony, Hun Manet said the government prioritises improving the quality of education in public schools, from preschool through higher education, while continuing to bring educational services closer to the public to ensure that every child has access to quality, equitable learning opportunities. He stressed that investing in education means investing in the country’s future, as education is the foundation of human resource development and a key factor in raising economic productivity and strengthening Cambodia’s competitiveness.

The prime minister also called on philanthropists and the private sector to continue helping to build and expand schools nationwide to address shortages of classrooms and teachers in rural areas, where some schools have nearly 80 students per class. According to a report by Kampong Thom Governor Nuon Pharath, the buildings demonstrate the private sector’s participation in advancing education. Hun Manet emphasised that developing human resources through education is an investment that brings long-term benefits to the country. Article by: Sopheak
