On November 2, Phnom Penh Deputy Governor Huot Hay called on local hotels, restaurants and tourism-related businesses to prepare in advance and provide quality services for the upcoming Francophonie Summit, leaving a positive impression on leaders, international guests and tourists.
Under the schedule, Cambodia will host the Ministerial Conference of La Francophonie on November 14, followed by the 20th Francophonie Summit in Phnom Penh on November 15 and 16. Foreign leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron, are expected to attend.
Huot Hay said the summit would be an important opportunity for Cambodia to showcase its national image and tourism appeal to the international community. He urged tourism businesses to strengthen service management, focusing on hospitality, food hygiene and clean surroundings, to provide foreign guests and tourists with a comfortable, high-quality experience.
Figures show that Phnom Penh recorded more than 11.86 million tourist visits in 2025, up nearly 19% from about 9.98 million in 2024. Of these, Chaktomuk Walk Street attracted more than 6 million visits from February to December 2025, including over 160,000 visits by foreign tourists.
As the international gathering approaches, Phnom Penh’s tourism services and city image will have an important opportunity to be showcased.
