In a post on his official Facebook page on the afternoon of December 18, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet said Cambodia’s “large family”, with strong solidarity, shared convictions and a common position, was conveying a clear message to the international community: Cambodia needs peace. He said the call arose from the people’s most sincere and simple wishes and represented their shared hope for peace and stability.
Hun Manet said Cambodians from different social backgrounds, political positions and religious beliefs had actively joined the large “Walk for Peace” initiated by the “Cambodian family”, brought together by a common national spirit. He stressed that Cambodians cherished peace and respected life, hoped to engage with all countries peacefully and positively, and were demonstrating to domestic and international audiences through practical action that, under any circumstances, Cambodia did not wish to see destruction, violence, disaster or the loss of any life.
