Thailand’s Royal Navy said on December 17 that 19 foreign nationals had been arrested during an operation against cybercrime along the Chanthaburi provincial border: 18 Chinese nationals and one Myanmar national. They were reportedly discovered and intercepted near a watermelon field on the Cambodia–Thailand border, and none had valid travel documents.
According to the navy spokesperson’s account published by JS100 on December 18, preliminary questioning indicated that the group intended to cross into Cambodia to take part in online scams. The 19 people had been transferred to police investigators at Saton police station for further legal proceedings, the account said.
