On December 20, Chon Buri immigration police and other law enforcement agencies carried out a raid at an upscale hotel in Pattaya’s Na Kluea area. Authorities had received intelligence that foreigners were suspected of conducting illegal gambling activities at the premises.
After entering the hotel, officers found a group gathered and gambling taking place, and detained those involved at the scene. Preliminary checks found five Chinese nationals among those detained, all suspected of violating relevant Thai laws.
The individuals had been detained in accordance with the law and transferred to Bang Lamung Police Station for further handling by investigators. Further developments and the relevant legal procedures remained under way.
