According to a statement published by the US State Department on December 27, 2025, Secretary of State Marco Rubio welcomed Cambodia and Thailand’s announcement that they had reached a ceasefire halting hostilities along their shared border following the third special meeting of the General Border Committee (GBC).
The statement added: “We also call on Cambodia and Thailand to honour this commitment immediately and fully implement the terms of the peace agreement in Kuala Lumpur.”
