Cambodian Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn did not refer to any specific drone incident or number of drones in his interview with state broadcaster TVK, according to a December 30 statement by the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. Instead, the minister stressed the need for regular communication channels at foreign-minister level and between the Cambodian and Thai militaries to prevent unnecessary escalation over minor incidents. Reports of cross-border drone deployments, for example, could be checked immediately by both sides to avoid misunderstandings.
The report said the clarification followed Prak Sokhonn’s comments about the use of drones in the Cambodia–Thailand conflict during his TVK interview. Media outlets subsequently carried the remarks out of context, leading to misunderstandings about his statement.
It recalled that, immediately after the Cambodia–Thailand–China trilateral meeting ended in Yunnan, China, on December 29, 2025, Cambodia’s foreign minister gave TVK an interview on the results of the Cambodia–China–Thailand meeting concerning the current situation between Cambodia and Thailand.
