The report said that Cambodia’s government, Ministry of National Defence and Royal Cambodian Armed Forces had never abandoned any of their heroic servicemen, whatever the circumstances. On the morning of December 31, 2025, Thailand released 18 Cambodian soldiers at Prum International Border Checkpoint in Pailin province, where Pailin Governor Ban Sreymom welcomed them after 155 days in Thai custody.
The report recalled that Thai soldiers had captured and held 20 Cambodian servicemen on the morning of July 29, 2025, after the ceasefire took effect. Thailand handed two of them back to Cambodia on August 1, 2025.
It stressed that, since the soldiers were captured and held, the Cambodian government had worked actively and continuously, using every available avenue and mechanism to demand that Thailand release the remaining 18 Cambodian soldiers as quickly and safely as possible.
