For the supply of Sen Kraob and Srangae Sral paddy from approximately 6,000 hectares, the total volume of paddy contracted with Baitang has risen to more than 40,000 tonnes, worth US$9.2 million. Baitang and two more modern agricultural cooperatives in Kampong Thom province have also signed additional contracts worth nearly US$7 million.
The Agriculture Ministry has now completed market linkages for all modern rice-farming cooperatives for this season, with reasonable prices assured in advance. It has also facilitated access to low-interest working-capital loans for around 2,000 farming-member households to produce paddy on nearly 15,000 hectares in Battambang, Banteay Meanchey, Siem Reap, Kampong Thom and Kampong Chhnang provinces.
