Personnel of the Cambodian Mine Action Centre (CMAC) have been actively conducting operations to ensure the safety of residents who are to return to their villages and homes, said government delegate and CMAC Director-General Heng Ratana. He was speaking to trainees at the Mine Action Technical Institute in Kampong Chhnang province on January 5, 2026.
The CMAC director-general added that nearly 80 platoons or teams had been deployed in areas from Koh Kong to Preah Vihear that he described as affected by the Thai military’s war of aggression, to respond to the most necessary and urgent needs.
Heng Ratana expressed firm confidence that all trainees would have the professional ability, responsibility and high discipline needed to apply mine-clearance techniques effectively and successfully ensure the safety of the people and society.
