Summary

Cambodia’s Interior Ministry reported Thai reconnaissance drone incursions on January 5 and 6, alongside coordination with the armed forces. It also reported displaced people’s returns and shelter needs and called for checks and restoration of public services.

Cambodia’s Ministry of Interior said Thai reconnaissance drones were detected repeatedly entering Cambodian sovereign airspace on the nights of January 5 and 6. Its report said Thailand deployed reconnaissance drones over Pursat province and around the Cham Yeam international border crossing in Koh Kong on the night of January 5, describing these actions as violations of Cambodia’s territorial integrity.

The ministry said that on the night of January 6, Thailand again sent one reconnaissance drone from the Checkpoint 56 area, while two other drones entered O Pluk Damrei in Thma Da commune, Veal Veng district, Pursat province. It stressed that it was maintaining close coordination with the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces to monitor the front-line situation around the clock and firmly defend national sovereignty and lawful territorial integrity.

Meanwhile, the ministry said it was paying close attention to the accommodation and management of displaced people. It had instructed relevant provincial administrations to continue data collection, on-site verification and impact assessments, and to speed up the restoration of public services. According to the report, as of 6 am that day, more than 16,700 additional displaced people had returned home. Of more than 640,000 affected people, about 460,000 had returned, while more than 186,700 remained at accommodation sites, including about 98,000 women and 61,000 children.
