U.S. President Donald Trump again made forceful remarks yesterday, Tuesday, saying Venezuela could soon become the 51st state of the United States.
Speaking to supporters in Corpus Christi, Texas, Trump said the country would become economically prosperous and might one day soon become America’s 51st state.
Trump also announced that Venezuela had sent 1 million barrels of oil to the United States as a gift for a victory in the midterm elections.
Trump praised the U.S. operation in Venezuela earlier this year, claiming it had greatly increased America’s oil supply and saying that this historic victory gave the United States the greatest control over the world’s oil supply.
The remarks came as Republican candidates faced pressure over rising fuel prices ahead of election day. The price per gallon of regular gasoline had risen by as much as 40% compared with the previous year, while diesel prices had increased by nearly 75%. Text: Rithy
