The Chinese ambassador to Cambodia posted a message that evening saying China supported the Cambodian government's and specialist forces' efforts to combat online scams. The ambassador expressed confidence that this work would continue making new progress.
The message followed a large-scale Cambodian operation against online-scam premises in Bavet, Svay Rieng province, on January 31, 2026, in which more than 2,000 foreign suspects were detained.
