Summary

The February 3 ceremony also provided projects for 12 further classrooms and seed rice for 94 farming families under a 2025–2027 livelihood and water-sanitation programme.

To respond urgently to students’ and residents’ needs during and after the border-war crisis caused by Thai military aggression, CIDO head Oeun Ratana said that, alongside opening a new six-classroom building, the organisation had announced projects for two additional school buildings comprising 12 classrooms, and distributed seed rice to 94 farming families.

These activities form part of the project to improve livelihoods, clean-water access and sanitation for residents of Oddar Meanchey province. It received a total assistance package of US$1,007,189 from the Netherlands-based Pharos Foundation. Running for three years, 2025–2027, the project aims to improve livelihoods, increase income and improve sanitation and residents’ use of clean water.

The inauguration of the six-classroom building, provision of projects for two further buildings with 12 classrooms, and distribution of seed rice to 94 farming families took place on the morning of February 3, 2026 in Malisraong village, Beng commune, Banteay Ampil district, Oddar Meanchey. Deputy Governor Mom Putthita and Pharos Foundation Director-General Piet Mars presided.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Governor Mom Putthita stressed:
“Investing in education by providing school buildings that meet standards plants important seeds of knowledge for children in remote and border areas, giving them a bright future and enabling them to become strong pillars of the nation.”

The deputy governor urged students, teachers and community residents to preserve these achievements so that children could benefit from them for many years. She also encouraged farmers who received seed rice to work hard on production to improve their families’ economic circumstances. By: Pai Sokhim.
