Banteay Meanchey Governor Oum Reatrey said Thai troops had continued to occupy about 760 hectares in Chouk Chey, Prey Chan and Boeng Trakuon after the December 27, 2025 ceasefire.
During a February 23 visit by diplomats led by Acting Foreign Minister Eat Sophea, the governor said Chouk Chey had 16 containers at four locations affecting 137 hectares; Prey Chan had 63 containers at three locations affecting more than 42 hectares; and Boeng Trakuon had 26 containers at 13 locations affecting 584 hectares. He said 11,250 residents were unable to return to their homes.
The report also cited Prime Minister Hun Manet's interviews with Reuters and Fox News, in which he said Thai forces had moved beyond even the areas shown on Thailand's unilateral, unrecognised map. He described this as not an allegation but a fact on the ground. This was Hun Manet's account of the border situation.
