Summary

Around 130 participants attended a February 25 workshop on curricula, trainer capacity and technical and vocational education policy.

On Wednesday morning, February 25, 2026, Undersecretary of State and project head Him Sothearath presided over the opening of a Lancang–Mekong Cooperation workshop on strengthening technical and vocational education and training systems for the future of work.

Participants included Chinese Embassy Minister Counsellor CHEN Cong, representatives of the Vietnamese, Lao and Myanmar embassies, and relevant institutions, totalling approximately 130 people.

Him Sothearath said the project under the Lancang–Mekong Cooperation framework aimed to strengthen partnerships among member countries in technical and vocational education and training, or TVET, by building networks between training institutions and stakeholders across the region.

The project focused on modernising curricula to meet actual labour-market needs, strengthening trainers’ capacity and developing more effective and robust TVET policy frameworks.

She reaffirmed the Cambodian government’s commitment to working with all development partners, especially China and countries in the Lancang–Mekong region, to develop quality vocational skills competitive in national and international labour markets.

The cooperation was expected to expand decent employment opportunities and strengthen the Cambodian workforce’s ability to adapt to rapid technological change and future labour-market trends. By: KPS99TV.
