“No matter how much the world changes, Cambodia and China remain steadfast friends,” said Hor Namhong, senior personal adviser to the King, when receiving Chinese Ambassador Wang Wenbin at his home for New Year greetings on February 27.
Wang Wenbin said Hor Namhong’s efforts as a former Cambodian deputy prime minister and foreign minister, and former co-chair of the Cambodia–China Intergovernmental Coordination Committee, had helped build bilateral friendship into a new-era ironclad partnership under the current Diamond Hexagon cooperation framework. He said many old friends in both countries, such as Hor Namhong, had worked to develop the relationship.
Hor Namhong said he and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi were close friends with many memories of successful cooperation to strengthen Cambodia–China ties. He recalled with emotion a meal when Wang Yi patted his shoulder and called him an “old friend,” words he would remember for life. He asked Wang Wenbin to convey greetings to Wang Yi, and the ambassador promised to do so.
