Kampot: Cambodia continued promoting human-resource development and innovation in Mekong–Lancang tourism through an international course on service excellence, skills development and tourism innovation, bringing together more than two hundred experts and professionals from the region.
Tourism Minister Huot Hak officially opened the course in Kampot province on March 11, 2026. Kampot Deputy Governor Khieu Rithiphon attended, together with national and international guests from China, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam and Cambodia, as well as professors and tourism specialists.
The minister praised the course as an important platform for strengthening human resources and encouraging innovative ideas in tourism. He also described opportunities for cooperation, experience-sharing and people-to-people links among Mekong-basin countries. The training project received support from China.
Kampot Deputy Governor Khieu Rithiphon presented Kampot’s tourism potential and investment opportunities, describing the province as a major Cambodian destination. The report noted repeated national “Three Rumduol Flowers” city awards, two ASEAN Clean Tourist City awards, and other awards concerning green hotels and community homestays.
Tourism statistics cited in the report showed almost 2.9 million visitor arrivals in Kampot in 2025, about six percent more than in 2024, while foreign arrivals rose by almost twenty percent.
Huot Hak said the course would strengthen Mekong–Lancang cooperation and add meaning to sixty-seven years of Cambodia–China relations, reflecting the spirit of their ironclad friendship and community with a shared future in the new era.
The platform offers young people, experts and tourism entrepreneurs from member countries opportunities to exchange experience, build cooperation networks and explore joint investment opportunities to support recovery after the COVID-19 crisis.
The course is also expected to improve tourism service quality, competitiveness and future domestic and international visitor arrivals in the Mekong basin. Written by KPS99TV
