On March 16, a batch of police equipment supplied by China’s Ministry of Public Security to Cambodia’s anti-online-scam commission was handed over in Phnom Penh. Chinese Ambassador Wang Wenbin and Cambodian Senior Minister Chhay Sinarith attended.
Chhay Sinarith thanked China for its support and said the Cambodian government had approved the draft anti-telecommunications and online-fraud law the previous week. He also said Cambodia planned to host an international anti-scam conference that year to demonstrate that the country was not a haven for criminals.
Wang praised Cambodia’s continuing enforcement operations and dismantling of multiple suspected scam sites. He said China was willing to strengthen cross-border law-enforcement cooperation to combat online fraud and protect both countries’ citizens.
