Chinese Ambassador Wang Wenbin said in a Facebook post on the night of March 16 that China would stand shoulder to shoulder with its“ironclad friend”Cambodia to eliminate the“cancer”of technology-enabled scams and protect people in both countries.
He praised Cambodia’s measures and results against the crime and said China’s Ministry of Public Security had provided continuing assistance. He described the latest police-equipment support as another practical step in implementing outcomes from President Xi Jinping’s Cambodia visit and strengthening joint law-enforcement cooperation.
Wang said China was willing to work with Cambodia to eliminate online scams, protect public safety and create a better environment for cooperation across sectors.
Prime Minister Hun Manet had previously said anti-scam enforcement would continue permanently, telling those waiting to assess it in April or June 2026 that there was no need to wait: the government was determined to prevent a resurgence.
