Preah Sihanouk consumer protection, competition and fraud repression (CCF) branch head Khun Simon warned of strict legal action against stations found deceiving consumers through fuel quality or quantity, falsely claiming to be sold out while hoarding for higher prices, or selling above Commerce Ministry limits.
He spoke on the afternoon of March 16, 2026, while leading checks of fuel measurement and retail prices at three Sihanoukville stations: Total, Caltex and Peace.
The operation involved commerce, mines and energy, and industry, science, technology and innovation departments.
The report says checks aimed to address public concerns, verify pump measurement, prevent above-limit sales, promote compliance with ministry price notices and prevent adulteration that could harm fuel quality and vehicles.
The branch invited reports of short measure, poor-quality fuel or excessive prices through toll-free number 1266, office number 023 231 856, and direct contacts 012 925 317, 012 875 989 and 012 824 948.
The report presents public reporting as important to tackling dishonest business practices and protecting consumer rights.
