Summary

More than 600 teachers and students attended the March 5 ceremony, which included awards and a wish-card time capsule.

On March 5, 2026, Golden Triangle Kapok School in the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone in Laos held its 2026 spring-term opening ceremony. Under the theme “Grow towards the Sun, Walk towards the Light”, more than 600 teachers and students gathered to welcome the new term.

In the morning, classes entered in orderly lines led by their homeroom teachers. Teachers and students stood for the flag-raising ceremony as the national anthem played. Led by a student representative, the school community recited the school’s verse together, affirming its shared ethos.

The principal welcomed teachers and students to the new term and encouraged pupils to show energy and determination, work steadily, study diligently, think carefully and keep physically strong. She said the school would continue improving its learning environment and supporting every child’s dreams and hopes.

A teacher representative pledged that staff would uphold professional ethics, care for every pupil with compassion and responsibility, improve their teaching and provide dependable support for students’ growth. A student representative expressed confidence and determination for the new term.

To recognise role models, the ceremony honoured last term’s “Four-Good Students”, high academic achievers, outstanding class officers and student council members, encouraging students to learn from one another and improve.

A special “time mailbox” segment saw class monitors post “New Year Wish Cards” completed by all classmates. The cards, carrying learning goals and hopes for the future, would be sealed until the end of term and opened to reflect on students’ growth.

After the ceremony, classes held their “first lesson of the term”. Homeroom teachers reviewed daily conduct rules for primary and secondary pupils, clarified class discipline and introduced designated cleaning areas to help the term begin smoothly.

Founded in 2010, Golden Triangle Kapok School is a charitable educational institution jointly funded by the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone administration and public donors. It includes Kapok Primary School and Kapok Bud Kindergarten, with more than 600 pupils from China, Laos, Thailand and Myanmar, and over 60 staff.

The school has modern teaching facilities and provides fully free education. In a Golden Triangle area long affected by drugs and poverty, the report says it remains committed to charitable education and improving children’s futures.
