Under the direction of Phnom Penh Governor Khuong Sreng and municipal police chief Chhuon Narin, authorities raided four suspected online scam locations in a residential development in Chroy Changvar district on March 24. Fifteen Chinese suspects were detained, and 43 mobile phones, five computers and a GAC Trumpchi minivan were seized.
Police also reported finding a bag of transparent crystals suspected to be methamphetamine and drug-use equipment. The report described this as an additional suspected offence. It also said several detainees appeared calm, with some smoking while being detained and having their fingerprints taken.
The villas were temporarily sealed, and the people and evidence were handed to Phnom Penh police for further investigation and handling.
