Joint forces under the Preah Sihanouk provincial Unified Command continued inspections and operations at suspected online-scam locations as part of efforts to strengthen security and public order.
According to a March 26, 2026 report, officers inspected 80 suspected houses in Borey Kouch Asia, Village 2, Sangkat 3, Sihanoukville, seizing 133 computers, 439 mobile phones and five air guns among other suspicious items.
During a third inspection at Jin Yu Men Tang casino in Village 4, Sangkat 4, officers found and detained nine people suspected of online-scam activities. Computers and mobile phones were collected as evidence for further investigation.
The suspects and evidence were handed to Preah Sihanouk provincial police for questioning and preparation of case files for referral to court under the law.
As of March 26, joint forces had taken action at 16 online-scam-related sites among 596 suspected locations inspected under Sub-Decree No. 03.
According to the secretariat of the ad hoc commission against technology-based scams, nationwide operations from 2025 through the second week of March 2026 had raided and sealed 236 locations: 91 casinos and 145 housing developments, villas, condominiums and other residences.
A Justice Ministry report says that over the preceding eight months, Cambodian courts handled 79 online-scam cases and convicted 697 organisers and accomplices of various nationalities. Authorities also reported that more than 220,000 people involved had left Cambodia by air and land.
Prime Minister Hun Manet pledged to eliminate technology-based scams from Cambodia within the April 2026 timeframe, saying the country was not a haven for such criminals and all involved would face the harshest penalties without leniency.
