Kratie: On March 28, 2026, the Tourism Ministry, the interministerial River Festival organising committee and Kratie provincial administration held a symbolic release of fish into the river to celebrate the Tenth River Festival under the theme “Green River, Rich Cultural and Natural Heritage”. Tourism Minister Huot Hak and his spouse presided, with Kratie Governor Va Thorn and his spouse participating.
More than 400 participants joined along the Mekong in Kratie, including Tourism Ministry and other government leaders and officials, provincial and local administrations, private-sector representatives, youth associations and residents. The report says the activity supports ecotourism and nature tourism, attracting domestic and international visitors to Cambodia’s rich natural potential, especially in Kratie.
The ceremony aimed to promote natural-resource conservation, sustain river biodiversity, nurture appreciation of nature and encourage participation in protecting fisheries resources, increasing natural fish stocks and maintaining aquatic ecological balance.
