Summary

The ministry reports over 6,393,500 m³ intercepted from January to March and automatic monitoring installed at 57 of 68 contracted locations.

The Ministry of Environment also encouraged companies and factories with pollution potential to comply with environmental laws and the Environment and Natural Resources Code, helping prevent water, soil and air pollution, increase green cover and promote sustainable development.

The ministry says that from January to March 2026 it prevented more than 6,393,500 cubic metres of wastewater from entering natural water sources. From 2025 up to the time of the report, more than 26 million cubic metres had been intercepted to prevent pollution of public waters that could affect people’s health and living conditions in Cambodia.

To protect public health and biodiversity sustainability, high-risk factories and enterprises are required to install effluent-monitoring equipment and data-management systems to send information directly to the ministry. As of March 2026, automatic water-quality monitoring equipment had been installed at 57 factories, enterprises and company locations out of 68 contracted locations. Writer: Pai Sokhim.
