On April 3, Cambodian Tourism Minister Huot Hak met Hollywood actress and humanitarian Angelina Jolie in Siem Reap province to discuss tourism development and the protection of cultural and natural heritage. The talks focused on strengthening cooperation across several areas to promote tourism while conserving cultural and natural resources.
They also exchanged views on raising Cambodia’s international profile through the promotion of tourist destinations, community support, cultural and artistic activities, and natural-resource conservation.
According to the tourism account’s report of the meeting, Jolie has carried out humanitarian work in Cambodia and elsewhere for many years, including work on natural and cultural conservation, education, healthcare, community development and sustainable tourism.
Her work on films including First They Killed My Father and Tomb Raider has also helped introduce Cambodia’s cultural appeal and tourism resources to international audiences. The report presented the meeting as an opportunity for closer international cultural and tourism cooperation.
