Summary

A fish weighing over 3 kg sold at 380,000 riel per kg on April 2; the report also lists observed prices for fish and other aquatic products in Kratie.

A fish priced above one million riel is not simply a coincidence, the report says. On the morning of April 2, 2026, a ត្រីប៉ាវ៉ាមុខពីរ weighing more than 3 kg sold at 380,000 riel per kg. Also commonly called ត្រីប៉ាវ៉ា, it is described as one of Cambodia’s rarer and more expensive freshwater fish, particularly in the upper Mekong areas of Stung Treng and Kratie.

Observations at fish stalls in Kratie town produced the following indicative prices for rarer or higher-priced varieties. Figures are riel per kilogram unless stated otherwise.

ត្រីប៉ាស៊ីអ៊ី: 170,000–200,000 per kg for fish under 1 kg; 500,000–650,000 for fish over 1 kg.

ត្រីប៉ាវ៉ាមុខពីរ: 350,000 per kg for fish over 2 kg; 300,000 for fish under 2 kg.
