Phnom Penh police reportedly searched an apartment building in Sen Sok on April 6 and detained 27 foreign suspects at an alleged online-fraud site, including one woman. The reported breakdown was 23 people from Taiwan, including the woman; three from mainland China; and one Malaysian.
Police reportedly seized three desktop computer units, 227 phones, 19 monitors and 22 laptops, suspecting the equipment had been used for scams over an extended period.
Following an initial inquiry, police alleged that the group used Cambodia as a base for cross-border fraud involving fictitious online purchases and induced investments. At the time of reporting, all suspects and the evidence had been handed to the relevant authorities for further legal procedures.
